Never say die...

The Shawshank Redemption

Just finished watching “Shawshank Redemption”. Agreed, I am too late to watch it, considering that the movie was released in 1994.
Well, It’s a simple story of an honest citizen and a banker. One who gets convicted for murdering his wife and her lover. The movie narrates how he spends years at the Shawshank prison, bonds with another prisoner and eventually breaks out. I can see “Isn’t-that-just-another-movie?” expression on your face. So what makes it a “must watch”?
Well, as its once mentioned in the movie...it’s important that you don’t forget that... there are places in this world that aren't made out of stone. That there's something inside... that they can't get to, that they can't touch. That's your's. That’s HOPE!!! HOPE is all that this movie is all about...Having hope that the bad time would go by (not on its own) and that it would dawn soon.
In spite of being in the prison (a metaphor for a tough or incurably worst situation) for 19 years and practically seeing all possibilities of having to spend rest of his life there, Andy preserves his hopes of getting out, being a free man with dignity. At some place where his past won’t come haunting him. Well he does not day dream although. He knows miracles do not happen. He knows what appears to be magic to others are carefully executed works of craft. He works out a solution, uses all his skills, banking knowledge for this. But the biggest thing he does is that he keeps his hope alive, remains patient and does not break down.
No matter who you are and what you do for living. This movie would move you. It would force you sit down and think.  You would be able to relate to it.

You would, for sure, carry something home. THE HOPE. THE NEVER DYING HOPE.
